Oregon Ski VacationsIf you are looking for ski vacation, then you should consider the famous Oregon, Timberline Lodge located near Mt. Hood. It is famous for the ski slopes should you be planning a ski trip. In that area, it has quite a bit of history starting from the lodge that was constructed during the Great Depression by a skill master craftsman. At the same time, the Timberline Lodge do have a bit of the most recent history as part of the movie called The Shining was filmed there. Many of the movie shots were done at Timberline Lodge. Do you know that Timberline Lodge is entirely made by hand and it has been very well preserved. The lodge has hand woven draperies and hand hewn beams add to the rustic charm and history of the place. Timberline Lodge is located in the middle of 1400 acres that has 35 trails. These trails are simply perfect for beginners, intermediates and experts skiers. Timberline Lodge is located at a height of 8504 with a vertical drop of 2501. Altogether there are 6 chair lifts to accommodate all skiers. The outstanding uniqueness that can be said about Timberline will be that is it one place in the United States that can offer year round snow skiing. Yes, it is true! It is permanently covered with snow at Palmer Snowfield that is part of the Timberline Resort. Unfortunately, for those beginners, they are not allowed on Palmer Snowfield as the conditions are considered each day when deciding on this determination. The main attractions at Timberline are hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding and lodge tours. Do you know the Mt. Hood is an active volcano that is considered to be dormant. But, once awhile you will be able to feel the tremors and steam vents are often seen. When it comes to food and dining, the Cascade Dining Room is opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner but the open hours changes every seasons. Other entertainment can be found at Blue Ox bar, Ram's Head Bar, Market Cafe, Wy'East Kitchen Cafeteria and the Mt. Hood Brewing Company. Unfortunately, there is no rental equipment available at Timberline. Therefore, you have to bring your own equipment. But smaller items like gloves, some clothing items and goggles can be purchased at the lodge. If you need private or group lessons, they are available at the snowboard and ski school on the premises. If you love the idea of a rustic ski vacation instead of trips with
accommodations that is much more appealing and fancier, going to
Timberline Lodge in Oregon will be the right choice. Your choice of
whether or not to ski, but the Magic Mile should not be missed by you
that offers a panoramic view of the Cascade mountains that nothing else
can match. It is definitely about the history and fantastic view.
